The Communicating Effectively with WebPages workshop focuses on the principles of design that go into creating a communicative and easy-to-use website, including choosing a layout, typography, and different media that work together to communicate a message.
Intro
- First, we'll talk a little about what the writing center is and how you can get help from us
Basic Design
- Now, we'll go through the process of designing a site together.
- We'll compare different images of the same subject matter and talk about how they can communicate different messages and have different effects on an audience.
- Now, we'll look at a full page and discuss whether it communicates a particular message or not.
- Finally, we'll compare multiple pages, and talk about how they would or would not be effective in different contexts.

Analysis
- Now we'll compare a few different websites and discuss in what contexts they would be most effective.

Guided Work (Remainder)
- During the rest of the workshop, we'll ask you to design a mockup of your own page, and facilitators will be around to help you and answer questions.
- We'll aslo talk about how to make sure web pages remain consistent from one computer to another.
