How do I attend a writing center workshop?
I see some interesting workshops posted but no dates, locations, or any details.
Please email response.
Furthermore there isn't an image displayed when the spam filter tries to get me to confirm that I'm not spamming you.
Actually, this year, 09-10, will feature a new program through the WC--a series of workshops that are open to the general MSU community. Look for the schedule to be announced in a few weeks. And if you have a request, now would be the time to make it.
I hope we'll see you at one, or more, of our workshops.
Hi miskedon,
Writing Center workshops are scheduled by MSU instructors/faculty for their classes. Individual students/clients do not attend or request workshops outside of their own courses. If you find a topic in a workshop that is of interest and need to you, you can always schedule a writing center appointment with a consultant and ask to work on that topic -- it is important though that you bring some of your *own* writing/work/project to work on in conjunction with that topic (so, for example, if you are interested in a web design workshop, schedule an appointment to do web design but also bring actual materials you want to incorporate or put into a website--things you've written, etc.).
I'm not sure about your other question (on spamming/authentication) perhaps someone else from our center can answer this one?
Thanks for using our blog!

Graduate Writing Center Consultant
On our website is a there is a tab for writing groups that are different groups you can join to workshop as a group, for instance we have creative writing workshop groups, graduate student writing groups, and faculty writing groups. We also have workshops (another tab on the site) , which are the presentations the Writing Center gives to different classes and groups upon request about everything from the writing process to digital design and using things like Comic Life. If you are interested in joining a writing group, then you simply have to click on the link that says "join a writing group" and it will take you to a page to apply to join. There are writing groups going on currently this summer, but the schedules of each depends on which group you are interested in joining. Also, these times change each semester as new groups are organized. If you are simply interested in learning things that the Writing Center presents on in our workshops , like Comic Life, then you can always schedule an appointment with an individual consultant that is familiar with what you wish to learn. That's all I can answer without any more information on which workshops you were particularly referring to, so please feel free to clarify your question to see if we can give you a better answer.
